Want to crack a job when you are in the final year of Engineering?
Want to crack a job when you are in the final year of Engineering?
Hey buddy, want to land into your dream job when you are in the final year of Engineering?
Two answers to this question: one is yes and no. No, because people might have many reasons for themselves, but the yes ones have one thing in mind that is, "Have To Crack An Interview At Any Cost".
Yes, for the yes ones you are in the right place. You will get all the necessary things to crack an interview.
Note: Focused mainly on CS and IT students.
Below are some of the points which you must follow:
1. Set a Goal
The first important thing to achieve anything is to set a goal. Once we set a goal we have to be consistent towards achieving that goal. The only weapon to achieve anything in this world is 3D's in life (Desire, Dedication, Diligence). So set a goal that you have to crack your job interview in your final year of engineering itself. This will be a proud moment for your parents as well as for your college and along with this, you will be the satisfied person in this world as your hard work will be paid off.
2. Find out the Companies(Research)
The next important step is to find out the list of companies that visit your college or you wish to apply for. Do some surveys about the companies. Get the information from your Training Placement Officer or from your senior. Find out whether the companies which visit is a product-based company or a service-based company. According to your interest choose the company.
3. How to choose a company?
After finding out the list of companies now comes the best company which is suitable for you. There are two types of MNC's one is the service-based company and the other is the product-based company.
A service-based company is a company that provides software products and services to anyone who asks for it for a price. They fulfill software requirements for a client.
Eg. TCS, Wipro, Infosys, LTI.
If you are pro at particular programming languages and you have a sound knowledge about the technologies used to develop and design the software then the service-based company is not for you.
A product-based company is a company that fulfills the product requirements of the general consumer.
Eg. Google, Microsoft.
Some colleges don't get a chance to bring such big MNC's in their college for the students from those colleges startup companies are the best. Startup's teach them a lot, as everything they do is different and interesting, so career growth is very good.
Choose wisely your category.
4. How to prepare?
After setting your company's choice and goals now comes the part of preparations. While preparations we have to be very careful because one small silly mistake can bring down our chances of getting a job.
Basic preparations for any company is clearing aptitude. In aptitude, there are mainly 4 sections: quantitative, verbal, logical reasoning. If you are good at quantitative then you can start the preparations in the 4th year of engineering itself but if you are not then starting from the 3rd year of engineering itself is good practice.
After clearing, many companies conduct technical tests. Some companies conduct only MCQ's but some conduct programming tests too. Prepare for good logical programming questions maths and string related.
Nowadays any companies arrange programming tests to hire students in their company.
Eg: TCS(NQT, Digital ion), Infosys(INFYTQ), LTI(ICC), Wipro(Talent search),...
These companies conduct exams at the National level and these exams have certain levels with the increase in salary level and the level of exam difficulty increases along with the level.
Even startups conduct such exams and those exams are a bit hard as compared to MNC's because in top MNC's we get training before we work on live projects for 2 to 4 months, but in startups, we get to work on the live project along with the training.
So, according to your chosen company start your preparation. For a service-based company, you need to know general technical knowledge along with aptitude.
For the product-based company, you need to have sound technical knowledge.
Start your preparations😃.
5. Technical knowledge?
Being an IT or CSE student you must have sound knowledge on C, C++, Java. These 3 must be your best friends in Engineering.
Then comes your final year project, from this project we get to know your interest. So choose your project in such a way that it should sell you in front of the company interviewer.
There are many new technologies emerging in the market, try to learn at least one new technology before you enter into the phase of the interview.
6. Personality Development
You might be very good at your technical knowledge, might have cleared your aptitude or you might have done a very interesting project in your final year of engineering but what is it all worth if you have no ability to represent it in front of others. In this world, the only person who gets recognized is the one who speaks confidently. So, be confident enough to speak what you have done. There is no need that you should have a high vocabulary in English and you must have a particular foreign accent to speak and represent yourself.
You can crack your face to face interview even by speaking fluently and faithfully by representing what you are because at last what stands out is your talent with a bit of strong confidence.
So be bold and be true and speak confidently whatever you speak.
These were some of my tips which I had followed in my final year Engineering and to be frank, it really helped me a lot.
I hope these 6 tips will give you all an idea like what you people must at least do to crack an interview.
All the best students and prepare very well and do enjoy your college days too, because college days are the golden days. Balance your life😇.
